The Bible
Who originated sin?
According to the Bible, Satan, also known as the Devil and Lucifer, started sin. "The devil sinneth from the beginning" 1 John 3:8
How did Lucifer originate?
God created Lucifer in the form of an angel. Lucifer's beauty was breathtaking and flawless. He was wise and brilliant intellectually. (Ezekiel 28:12-15)
One day this beautiful, perfect angel stopped being flawless... Iniquity was born in him. (Ezekiel 28:15)
How did Lucifer turn evil?
Lucifer's sin began when he started to look at himself instead of God. He thought of himself as beautiful. And he enjoyed the thought. As he thought about himself and his beauty pride began to be born in his heart. (Ezekiel 28:17)Soon his pride had grown to such an extent that Lucifer thought he was too good to be a mere angel. Lucifer believed that he was great enough to be equal with God Himself. (Isaiah 14:13-14)
What were the consequences?
It finally came to the place where Lucifer would no longer submit to God's will or direction. He worked to turn the other angels against God. There was no choice but to forcibly throw him out of heaven.
"And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not. Neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." Revelation 12:7-9
